I am Bacheny and am 20 years old. I have been finished with high school since 2018. Only 5% of the
students pass the final examination. I worked hard and passed. One of the
reasons I was able to finish high school is because Halo helped me.
I have not been able to go to college because my
family does not have money to send me.
In Haiti there is a saying, “chita pa bay.” I guess that means, “sitting on your butt won’t get you anything.” Rather than sit on my backside, I have been
learning English and reading as much as I can. My Engish is still not very good. I wrote this letter but my sister helped me make it better.
My mother died when I was five
years old. My dad is a small farmer and
makes a little money growing and selling watermelons. It is not even enough for him to live
on. I helped him when I was
younger. He has no other income and can't pay for more schooling for me. I live with my older sister and her husband, and she has a job but with a new baby has no extra money to help me.
I have many dreams and I have
been thinking about them for the last 2 years. They will only be dreams unless I can get some help. I want to learn electrical engineering or become an
electrician and attend a trade school here called Canado. It is expensive but it is one of the best
schools of this kind in Haiti. Many people go to a college to learn
business or some other profession but still cannot find a job. I like to work with my hands. There is always a need for people that can
fix things for others. Then I would like to have my own business. I am praying for a person or an organization
who can help me pay the school costs I am a strong Christian man and I want to
share this verse with you from Galatians
6:9. “And let us not grow weary
while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart."
Will you please help me not lose heart? I am at your disposal to provide you with
supporting documents and additional information that you would like.
Thank you for reading my story. |
